+ Lance Crick

Lance Crick currently serves as the First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina as well as the Supervisory Assistant United States Attorney for the Greenville USAO. Since joining the United States Attorney’s Office in August 2001, Lance has advanced the prosecution of Project CeaseFire cases, the South Carolina component of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). As the statewide coordinator for PSN/Ceasefire, Lance’s responsibilities include working with local, state, and federal authorities in order to target violent felons who continue to possess and use firearms as well as coordinating efforts with communities and schools on gun safety.

Over the years, Lance has also handled OCDETF (Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force) drug prosecutions, cases which focus on the activities of drug trafficking operations which span multiple jurisdictions. Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Lance worked for three years as a state prosecutor in the 13th Judicial Circuit, handling a variety of violent crime and narcotics cases in Pickens County, South Carolina. Lance received his undergraduate degree from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1995 and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998.

Lance and his wife, Cindy, a former state prosecutor in the Seventh Judicial Circuit, who currently serves as Chief of Staff for Congressman Trey Gowdy, live in Greenville with their eight-year-old son, Smith.

+ Jennifer Howe

Jennifer grew up in Greenville and attended Clemson University where she majored in French and International Trade with a minor in Economics. She was in the first graduating class from the Charleston School of Law in 2007. While in law school, she clerked for law firms and then Chief Judge of the Fourth Circuit, William Wilkins. She spent a year clerking with now retired Circuit Court Judge Eddie Welmaker. Following her clerkship, she defended doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice cases at Devlin & Parkinson. She left to start her own firm, DeMint Howe, with her good friend, Jamie DeMint, where her practice focused on personal injury, business litigation and family law.

In 2016, Jennifer left the practice to focus on her family. She is the proud mom to Vivienne, Ellie George and Hank. During this time, she has remained active with her leadership through the Greenville Bar; spending much of her time to lead the establishment of the Greenville Bar's Pro Bono Foundation. She is currently the President of the Greenville Bar. Jennifer is an active member of the community serving on many boards throughout her career.

+ Venus Poe

Sheally Venus Poe has her own firm in Greenville and Fountain Inn, South Carolina where her main practice areas include personal injury, products liability, social security disability and workers’ compensation. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and the College of Charleston.

Ms. Poe is licensed to practice before the South Carolina Courts, the United States District Court for South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Poe is a member of the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates and former member of the Board of Governors . She is also a former President of the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division and founded the South Carolina Bar’s Leadership Academy. She has served as a scoring judge for the South Carolina High School Mock Trial Competition and Middle School Mock Trial Competition. She is also on the Bar’s Practice and Procedure and Publications Commitees and serves on the South Carolina Fee Dispute Board.

Ms. Poe currently serves on the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors, as the Rotary Club of Fountain Inn’s President and on the Board of Directors for the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce. She is also a certified Circuit Court mediator.

+ The Honorable John Kittredge

John W. Kittredge is married to Lila Graham Hewell, and they have three adult children, Lila Marian, Will and Zay and one grandchild, Jeff. John graduated from the University of South Carolina, summa cum laude. He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Academic honors include Phi Beta Kappa, Order of the Coif, and Wig and Robe.

Justice Kittredge began his legal career as a law clerk to The Honorable William W. Wilkins, Jr. He practiced law in the firm of Wilkins, Nelson and Kittredge. Justice Kittredge was actively involved in community and state service: Governor’s Committee on Crime and Delinquency; Governor’s Juvenile Justice Task Force; Greenville Technical College Foundation (Vice-President); City of Greenville Civil Service Commission (Chairman); Greenville County Crime Stoppers (President); Board of Directors of Child Evangelism Fellowship. In addition to his admission to the South Carolina Bar, Justice Kittredge is also admitted to practice before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, United States Court of Military Appeals, United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Justice Kittredge serves in various roles in support of the legal profession, including Chairman of the Chief Justice’s Commission on the Profession.

Justice Kittredge has served as a family court judge, circuit court judge, court of appeals judge, and since 2008, has served as a justice on the South Carolina Supreme Court. He is the only person ever to serve on all the major courts in South Carolina.

+ Stuart Mauney

Stuart Mauney is a shareholder in the Greenville SC office of Gallivan White & Boyd. His practice is focused on the defense of business and commercial clients in the professional negligence, personal injury, and trucking law practice areas. Additionally, he serves the South Carolina legal system as a certified mediator. Stuart defends trucking companies in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases. This defense includes coordinating the emergency response to trucking and industrial accident scenes, the investigation that follows, and the subsequent litigation and trial of those matters. His professional negligence practice is centered on the healthcare industry, especially representing nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Stuart has spent many years as a mental health advocate, including serving on the board of directors and as President of Mental Health America of Greenville County. He later served on the board and as an officer of Mental Health America of South Carolina. He currently serves on the board of Gateway, a local non profit clubhouse that provides rehab services to the chronically mentally ill in the Greenville community. Stuart also volunteers with the SC Bar Lawyers Helping Lawyers program, which provides resources, education and support to lawyers and judges who have a substance abuse disorder or mental health problem. He just recently served on the national ABA Advisory Committee for the Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs.

+ The Honorable John C. Few

John Cannon Few graduated from Duke University with an A.B. Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Economics. He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of The Order of Wig and Robe and The Order of the Coif. He also served as Student Works Editor of the South Carolina Law Review.

Justice Few began his legal career as law clerk to The Honorable G. Ross Anderson Jr., United States District Judge. He practiced law in Greenville from 1989 until 2000, and is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Justice Few served as a trial judge on the Circuit Court of South Carolina from July 2000 until February 2010. He then became the Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, a position he held until February 2016. He was elected as a Justice on the Supreme Court of South Carolina on February 3, 2016, and he was sworn in on February 9, 2016.

Justice Few is a frequent public speaker. He now teaches at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Before becoming a judge, he read to pre-school children on a weekly basis for years in the Greenville Head Start program, tutored middle-school children through Save our Sons, taught middle and high school classes as part of the Junior Achievement program, and served on the board of Friends of the Reedy River. While he was a circuit judge, he served on the 2003-04 Governor’s Water Law Review Committee. Justice Few now chairs the South Carolina Access to Justice Commission.

+ The Honorable Aphrodite K. Konduros

Judge Aphrodite Konduros is a member of the S.C. Court of Appeals. She currently serves as vice-chairman of the Chief Justice's Commission of the Profession, a member of the S.C. Senate Judiciary Sentencing Reform Commission, subcommittee chairman of the Supreme Court Family Court Docketing Committee, a member of the Supreme Court E-Filing Committee, a member of the S.C. Bar's Vulnerable Adult Task Force, and a member of the S.C. Bar Pro Bono Board. She is also the 2013 recipient of the American Board of Trial Advocates' Jurist of the Year Award. She was elected to the Family Court in February 2002 to fill the unexpired term of the Hon. Amy C. Sutherland, retired. On February 6, 2008, Judge Konduros was elected to the S.C. Court of Appeals to finish the unexpired term of Chief Justice Donald W. Beatty. She was reelected to the S.C. Court of Appeals in 2015. She and her husband, Sam Konduros, live in Greenville and Seabrook Island, South Carolina.

+ Congressman Trey Gowdy

Representing South Carolina’s 4th District, Trey Gowdy entered Congress with a resolute commitment to the conservative principles that have guided him throughout his years in public service. At the core of those principles lies a firm belief in a limited government that inspires trust and demands accountability.

In June of 2017, Representative Gowdy became Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He also serves on the House Committees on Intelligence, Ethics, and Judiciary. In these capacities, Representative Gowdy has fought to highlight facts, uphold the Constitution, rein in the ever-expanding scope of the federal government, and restore America’s trust with a renewed spirit of honesty, fairness and reason.

Trey graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1982, Baylor University in 1986 with a degree in history, and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1989 where he was a member of the scholastic honor society “Order of the Wig and Robe.”

For 6 years as a federal prosecutor, Trey prosecuted the full range of federal crimes including narcotics trafficking rings, bank robberies, child pornography cases, and the murder of a federal witness. He was awarded the Postal Inspector’s Award for the successful prosecution of J. Mark Allen, one of “America’s Most Wanted” suspects. He also received the highest performance rating a federal prosecutor can receive – two years in a row.

As 7th Circuit Solicitor, Trey led an office of 25 attorneys and 65 total employees. During his tenure, he started a Violence Against Women Task Force and a Worthless Check Program, enhanced and expanded Drug Court, and implemented a Drug Mother Protocol designed to assist expectant mothers break the cycle of addiction.

He has been recognized statewide for his commitment to victim’s rights and drunken driving enforcement and nationally for excellence in death penalty prosecutions.

Trey is married to Terri Dillard Gowdy, and they have two children: Watson and Abigail. The Gowdy family also includes two dogs: “Jury” and “Bailiff.”

+ Cindy Crick

Cindy Crick graduated from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia with a BA degree in Biology in 1994. She attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and graduated with a J.D. in 2002.

Cindy is currently the Chief of Staff for Congressman Trey Gowdy, who represents the 4th Congressional District of South Carolina. She began working for the House of Representatives in 2010 when Mr. Gowdy was elected to the US Congress. She helps develop and implement policy objectives, strategies and operating plans for the Member's offices, manages and directs all activities and staff in the Member's Washington D.C. and district offices, and helps coordinate and staff the activities of the Congressman Gowdy while he is in the district.

Prior to becoming Congressman Gowdy’s Chief of Staff, Cindy served eight years as an Assistant Solicitor in the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. While there, she coordinated and supervised the Violence Against Women Unit. She prosecuted cases involving violence against women including criminal domestic violence, arson, burglary, sexual assaults, domestic homicides, and a death penalty case.

Cindy also facilitated prosecution of magistrate level cases in both Spartanburg and Cherokee County centralized CDV courts. She provided training to law enforcement, judges, medical providers, and community agencies including Family Violence Conference training, Solicitor’s Conference victim advocate training, and Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition annual volunteer training.

Cindy is married to Lance Crick who is an Assistant U.S. Attorney. They have a 8-year-old son named Smith, and are also parents to a sweet pug named Pearl.

+ Garrett D. Steck

Garrett Steck is a member of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s corporate and employment practice groups where he represents international and domestic clients with regard to the cross border movement of goods and personnel. He has experience in managing cases and representing multinational corporations, healthcare facilities, small businesses and individual clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, US Department of State and US Department of Labor. His practice facilitates the movement of key executives, management and technical workers and their family members into the US by obtaining and maintaining temporary and permanent visas for specialty occupation workers, NAFTA professionals, intra-company transferees, investors/traders, nonagricultural workers, exchange visitors and for aliens possessing extraordinary ability. He provides strategic consulting and advice concerning foreign workforce availability for new US start-up operations and the impacts to foreign workforce associated with mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and other downsizing efforts. + Suyash Raiborde

Suyash Raiborde’s practice focuses on corporate and business immigration matters. His corporate practice includes representing and advising newly-formed and established companies in commercial transactions, corporate governance and foreign in-bound investment matters. As a business immigration advisor, Suyash enjoys staying abreast of the evolving immigration regulations under the current administration and finding effective solutions for employers’ immigration needs.

+ Stephanie E. Lewis

Stephanie E. Lewis is the Office Managing Principal of the Greenville, South Carolina, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She is the Co-Chair of the Pay Equity Resource Group. Ms. Lewis represents employers in employment litigation and advises clients on preventive practices and policies to avoid litigation. Ms. Lewis has handled all aspects of employment law but focuses on sexual harassment, pay discrimination, and disability discrimination issues in the automotive, manufacturing, retail, and pharmaceutical industries. She regularly presents on employment-related topics to Bar and industry groups.

Bryan P. Stirling was appointed Director of the South Carolina Department of Corrections by Governor Nikki Haley October 1, 2013. + Steve Sumner

Steve graduated from the USC School of Law in 1992. As a student, he was named to the “Order of the Wig and Robe” for superior academic achievement. Additionally, Steve was part of the “Mock Trial Competition” winning team at USC, which represented USC in the Southeastern regional of the national competition. Steve served as a state court prosecutor from 1992 to 1994. His primary case load consisted of prosecuting DUI, Felony DUI, Reckless Homicide and Traffic offenses.

+ Jennifer Wells

Jennifer Wells is an Assistant Solicitor in the 7th Judicial Circuit, which encompasses Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties in upstate South Carolina. She currently leads a joint Federal-State task force on domestic violence on behalf of both the Solicitor’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office for South Carolina. She supervises the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit for the 7th Judicial Circuit. Prior to working in South Carolina, Jennifer was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of North Carolina, where she served in the OCDETF unit for just over eight (8) years. She has prosecuted cases in both state and federal court for over fifteen (15) years.

+ Alec Smith

Alec Smith currently serves as a career law clerk to the Honorable Bruce H. Hendricks, United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina. Since joining Judge Hendricks' staff in 2015, Alec has prepared written rulings of the Court in every manner of civil and criminal case and served as legal advisor to Judge Hendricks on a broad spectrum of issues. In addition, Alec assists the Court in operating the BRIDGE Program, a federal drug court which has received national acclaim as a model for new problem solving courts around the country.

Prior to his current position, Alec served as a Captain and Judge Advocate on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. As a trial attorney in the Defense Services Organization at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, he litigated a broad range of felony and misdemeanor criminal cases from inception to conclusion, handling every aspect of trial preparation and execution. In that role, Alec's legal writing and oral advocacy were recognized when he was selected as Defense Counsel of the Year for the Marine Corps' Eastern Region.

Alec received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, in 2004 and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2011. He and his wife Jill live in Greenville with their four children.

+ Valerie McDonald

Valerie is from Myrtle Beach and graduated in 1987 from Coastal Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science. She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1990 where she was a member of the Law Review. Since 2010, Valerie has served as the Career Law Clerk for United States District Judge Timothy M. Cain in Anderson, SC. Prior to that, she clerked for United States Magistrate Judges Bruce H. Hendricks for five years and William M. Catoe, Jr., for three years. Valerie has also worked as a temporary law clerk for United States District Judge Henry M. Herlong, Jr., while his career clerk was on maternity leave. Valerie has clerked for two South Carolina Supreme Court Justices: Justice James E. Moore for nine years and Justice John H. Waller for two years. She has also worked as an Adjunct Legal Writing Instructor at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Valerie lives in Greenville. She is married to Kevin McDonald and they have three children.

+ Christine M. Schanen

Christine graduated from Clemson University and the Marquette University Law School. Christine practiced for three years as a litigation associate at Nelson, Mullins, Riley and Scarborough in Greenville. In 2004, Christine accepted a federal clerkship with the Honorable Henry M. Herlong, Jr., Senior United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina.

+ Carrie Fisher Sherard

Carrie Fisher Sherard is an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of South Carolina. Carrie joined the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2008. She is a graduate of Furman University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorneys Office, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Karen J. Williams of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Carrie currently works as the asset forfeiture attorney for the office and she also serves as the human trafficking coordinator and the tribal liaison for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of South Carolina

+ The honorable perry Gravely

Perry Gravely was born in the hamlet of Pickens in 1960 during times when the land was covered with Kudzu and local whiskey was used for “medicinal purposes” only. He later graduated from Wofford College as a History Major (1983) and earned his law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating in 1986. He started his legal career at Leatherwood, Walker, Todd & Mann in Greenville before returning to Pickens to be a country lawyer. In 2015, he was elected as Circuit Judge for the 13th Circuit to fill the unexpired term of Hon. G. Edward Welmaker.

He is married to Kathryn Gravely and they have 4 children, all of whom are allegedly grown, but one has provided him with a grandson. Judge Gravely enjoys music, playing his guitar, reading, outdoors and has served as Scoutmaster for Troop 51 in Pickens for more than 15 years.

+ Jennifer B. Gilmer

Jennifer is from Lyman, SC, but she has lived in several areas of South Carolina having grown up as the daughter of a United Methodist pastor. She graduated in 1988 from Wofford College with BA in Sociology. She has worked for the SC Department of Social Services since 1989 & is a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW). She has worked in many areas of the agency to include Economic Services, Child Protective Services/Foster Care within the specialized sexual abuse unit, & the Intensive Foster Care & Clinical Services offices in Spartanburg, Aiken, Anderson, & Greenville. She specialized in working with emotionally disabled children in foster care & their families. Since February 2014 she has been the Region I Kinship Care Coordinator serving as a liaison between the agency’s kinship care providers in the upstate & their DSS caseworkers & supervisors. Jennifer is married to the Rev. Brian Gilmer (yes, she was crazy enough to marry a Methodist minister even after growing up as a Preacher’s Kid). They have a 16 year old daughter Bryson.

+ Kimaka Nichols-Graham

Kimaka Nichols-Graham is the Managing Attorney of the Greenville Office and the Education Unit Head for South Carolina Legal Services where she has worked for over 19 years practicing primarily family and education law. South Carolina Legal Services provides civil legal services to low income families. As the Managing Attorney in Greenville, she is responsible for the provision of civil legal services in Anderson, Greenville, Pickens, and Oconee counties, the quality of legal services provided, and maintaining connections with the community and private bar. As the Education Unit Head, Mrs. Nichols-Graham has represented clients in education cases across the state, trains attorneys to practice education law, and works to develop this practice area at legal services. Mrs. Nichols-Graham attended Winthrop University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She attended Rutgers University and earned a Master of Science in Public Policy with a concentration in Education Policy. She also attended the University of South Carolina, School of Law and earned a Juris Doctor. Ms. Nichols-Graham is the 2014 Ellen T. Hines Smith South Carolina Legal Services Lawyer of the Year, a past recipient of the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award, and a past Commissioner for the South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on CLE & Specialization.

Mrs. Nichols-Graham serves on the SCBAR Children’s Law Committee, the SCBAR Education Law Committee, the South Carolina Children’s Justice Act Task Force, and on the advisory board of The Center for Educational Equity (CEE). Mrs. Nichols-Graham is a member of The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), the Greenville Bar Association and the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association.

+ Danielle Mitchell

Danielle Metoyer Mitchell is a partner in the firm Mitchell Ramseur, LLC, in Greenville, South Carolina where she handles family law cases. She joined the firm as an associate at its inception in 2011.

A native of the Bayou State, Ms. Mitchell graduated from the Louisiana Scholars College in 1998. She earned a Juris Doctor from University of South Carolina School of Law. In the years immediately following law school, Ms. Mitchell served in staff attorney positions at South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

Since her move to the Upstate in 2005, Ms. Mitchell has been a family court litigator, handling primarily complex custody cases in which she has represented individuals, the State, as well as served as guardian ad litem for minor children. She represents individuals of all perspectives (grandparents, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles, stepparents, mothers and fathers) in domestic relations cases including those related to stepparent adoption, de facto custodians, child support,visitation, and equitable division.

Catherine holds the Accredited in Business Valuation, Certified Valuation Analyst, and Certified Fraud Examiner credentials. She has testified in family court and circuit court and has served as both a joint expert and a court appointed expert. She has been a frequent speaker on topics related to valuation, accounting, and litigation support. Catherine grew up in Columbia but settled in Greenville after graduating from Furman University. She served as past chair of the South Carolina Association of CPA’s Business Valuation/Litigation Services committee. She is a graduate of Leadership Greenville and Leadership South Carolina.

Peter Tiffany is the managing partner of Bradshaw, Gordon & Clinkscales in Greenville, South Carolina, where, along with tax services for business and individuals, he also specializes in business valuation and litigation support. He graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina at Aiken in 1994 and received a Masters in Accounting from the University of South Carolina in 1995. He has been a CPA since 1997, became Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) in 2003, Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) in 2008 and a Certified Global Management Accountant since 2014. Hannah Rogers Metcalfe is in private practice with the law firm of Metcalfe & Atkinson, LLC, which she co-founded in 2011 with her partner, Courtney Atkinson, past president of the Greenville Bar. Ms. Metcalfe’s litigation practice includes civil litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, business litigation, family law, federal criminal defense, media and first amendment, and appellate law.

Ms. Metcalfe received her Bachelor of Science of Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University in 1999. She received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 2002, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, President of the Student Senate, and a member of the Columbia Law Review. After law school, she clerked in Philadelphia for the Honorable Anita B. Brody of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She went on to clerk for The Honorable William B. Traxler, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. After toiling in the salt mines of a larger firm (Wyche) for several years, Ms. Metcalfe embarked on her current small-firm adventure in 2011.

Ms. Metcalfe is admitted to practice in New York and South Carolina, as well as in the Eastern District of New York, the District of South Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Services. A past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, Ms. Metcalfe now serves as the elected Circuit Vice-President for the Fourth Circuit for the Federal Bar Association and is a member of the board of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. A member of the Haynsworth Perry Inn of Court, Ms. Metcalfe serves as the Chair of the Fourth Circuit Rules Advisory Committee.

Hannah is also the mother of two beautiful children, Marshall and Riley, and is married to Logan, an entrepreneurial Kiwi who is the founder of Arkiver, a technology startup that provides families and businesses a way to digitally collect and curate life’s memories. In her spare time, Hannah likes to get out of town and return to her roots in the Dark Corner.

Thomas Tredway Hodges was born in Conway, South Carolina in 1959 to Dr. Rupert E. Hodges and Eunice Purnell Hodges.

Tommy grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1978. He attended Georgia Tech before graduating from USCS with a degree in Business Administration. He graduated from USC School of Law in 1987. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar on November 23, 1987. After graduation from law school Judge Hodges worked as an associate with Haynsworth Baldwin Johnson and Greaves, a nationally renowned labor and employment law firm. He became a partner in that firm in 1994. In 2003 he and Marsh Robertson formed what would later become Robertson & Hodges, LLC where he practiced family law exclusively. After Marsh Robertson was elected to the Family Court bench in 2010, Judge Hodges formed Thomas T. Hodges, P.A. where he continued his exclusive Family Court practice until his election on February 1, 2017.

Judge Hodges is a member of the Greenville County Bar, the South Carolina Bar, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. While in private practice he was recognized as a “Super Lawyer” in the area of family law and held an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Judge Hodges married the former Erroll Anne Yarbrough in 1988. She is a partner with McAngus Goudelock & Courie, LLC. They have two sons, Walker, a graduate of Ole Miss, and Heyward, a graduate of The University of Georgia.

Judge Karen Sanchez Roper was elected to the 13th Circuit Family Court for Pickens County in May 2016. She is a native of Valdosta, Georgia and a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina School of Law. After graduation from law school, she was employed as an associate with the Charleston firm of Laddaga, Crout and Drachman, P.A. Upon moving to the upstate, she and her husband, attorney Ken Roper, worked together for over 15 years as partners in Roper Law Firm, LLC. Her primary practice always has been in Family Court, where her experience includes serving as a DSS prosecutor, defense counsel through the Office of Indigent Defense, Guardian ad Litem, and Certified Family Court Mediator. She also is admitted to practice before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court.

Judge Roper and her husband are the proud parents of two sons; one attending the University of South Carolina, and the other a student at Pickens High School. She and her family are members of Pickens Presbyterian Church. She enjoys reading, following SEC football, and spending time on Lake Keowee with her family and her two dogs.

Judge Tiffany was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1970, to Stuart and Kay Hall. She was raised in Gaffney, South Carolina with her fraternal twin sister (Eleanor Caroline). While attending Spartanburg Day School, she spent most of her free time with horses, competing in horse shows and participating in fox hunts in Tryon, North Carolina. After graduating from Spartanburg Day School in 1988, Judge Tiffany attended the University of South Carolina Honors College, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She graduated in 1992 Magna Cum Laude with a Major in English and a minor in South Carolina Studies, and then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating in 1995 and becoming the fourth generation in her family to enter the practice of law.

From 1995 to 1996, she clerked for the Honorable Henry Floyd, then Circuit Judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. In 1996 she joined Carter, Smith, Merriam, Rogers & Traxler, P.A. as an Associate, and then became partner in 2006. In 1995, Judge Tiffany married Peter Clifford Tiffany, a native of Aiken, South Carolina who works as a Certified Public Accountant. She and her husband have two sons, Brice Baskin and Barron Joseph; a dog, Grace and a cat, Banjo. They are members of St. James Episcopal Church, where Judge Tiffany has served as a nursery volunteer and Children’s Church leader. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading a wide variety of books, watching old movies, and trying to stay active.
