Summary: You’ve got a judgment – now what? Experienced collection attorneys Aaron Angell and Kevin Molony will walk you through the basics of a collection action, providing insight and lessons they’ve learned along the way.
+ Aaron Angell and Kevin Molony
Aaron Angell & Kevin Molony are the founders of Angell Molony LLC. Angell Molony is dedicated to the enforcement of judgments across the state of South Carolina. Whether the judgment originated in South Carolina and the debtor has assets outside of the state, or the debtor has assets in South Carolina, Angell Molony pursues all channels of recovery. They represent banks, corporations, small businesses and individuals in enforcing their lawfully entered judgments. Aaron Angell is a 2006 graduate of Clemson University and a 2010 graduate of the Charlotte School of Law and previously operated as a solo practitioner in Clemson. Kevin Molony is a 2007 graduate of Presbyterian College and a 2010 graduate of the Charlotte School of Law. Kevin has worked as a law clerk for the Honorable William P. Keesley, as an assistant solicitor for Aiken County, and in private practice.

Summary: A discussion of how attorneys need to prepare differently for virtual mediations, tips on what has proven to be effective (and ineffective) in mediating across the internet, client control, client communications, and handling difficult conversations and clients effectively when the lawyer is not in the same physical space.
+ Anne Culbreath
Anne Ross Culbreath practices in Greenville office of Willson Jones Carter & Baxley. She graduated from Emory University in 1994 and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998. Anne is a litigator and Certified SC Circuit Court Mediator who regularly serves as a mediator in a variety of disputes. She also serves as a Special Referee in the Circuit Courts. During the course of her legal career, Anne has defended clients in construction, products liability, premises liability and personal injury litigation. She has extensive experience in defending professionals in negligence actions. She has represented individuals, hospitals, clinics, physician and dental practices, and long-term care facilities against claims of malpractice involving personal injury and wrongful death. Anne also practices in the area of governmental liability, defending governmental entities and employees in professional negligence and civil rights litigation. She has tried cases in courts of all jurisdictions across the state of South Carolina. Anne is admitted to the South Carolina Bar, the United States District Court, District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Judicial Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. The Supreme Court of South Carolina appointed Anne to the South Carolina Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution in July of 2010. She was named to Greenville Business Magazine Legal Elite for Liability Litigation in 2017, 2020 and 2021, South Carolina Super Lawyers for Litigation Defense in 2020 and 2021 and U.S. News Best Lawyers for Litigation in 2020-2022 and Mediation in 2021-2022.

Common Coverage Issues in Tort Cases

Summary: A discussion covering matters of (1) personal automobile policies, including problems in Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist claims and the relationship, or lack thereof, between UM/UIM defense counsel for the carrier and the defendant as well as stacking and portability issues; (2) commercial general liability policies and whether coverage is triggered under CGL policies generally (i.e. allegations of accidental conduct and allegations of damage or injuries during the relevant policy periods); and (3) Tyger River policy limit demands.
+ Natalie Ecker
Natalie Ecker is a member of the insurance coverage team at Gallivan, White & Boyd in Greenville, South Carolina where she provides insurance coverage advice, analyses, and litigation services to national, international, and surplus lines insurers issuing commercial, personal, excess, and umbrella policies. She represents insurers in both first party and third party claims, declaratory judgment actions, and breach of contract and bad faith litigation. Natalie also assists insurers with pre-suit claims involving property and theft losses, arson, and other first party claims. Natalie is licensed to practice in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and she is a member of the DRI, South Carolina Bar, and Greenville County Bar. Natalie is also a member of the South Carolina Bar Wellness Committee and the Junior League of Greenville’s Empowered Women of Greenville Committee. Natalie obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law.

John is a partner with the law firm Holder Padgett Littlejohn + Prickett, LLC, working in their Greenville, SC office. His practice focuses on workers’ compensation defense, representing and counseling insurance carriers, employers, self-insureds, and others throughout South Carolina. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John C. Hayes, III, of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. + Ashley Cuttino
Ashley Cuttino is a shareholder at Ogletree Deakins law firm in their Greenville, SC office. Ashley represents and counsels companies on a wide range of labor and employment law issues. In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Ashley has led Ogletree Deakins’ nationwide unemployment response team. In addition, Ashley is the co-chair of the Ogletree COVID-19 Litigation Practice Group, which involves all areas of employment law as well as personal injury related claims. In addition to COVID-19 matters, a significant focus of her practice is on various state leave laws (counseling and litigation) and multi-state compliance. Ashley is a member of the OD Comply compliance solutions group and the shareholder - author of the OD Comply: State Leave Law subscription materials. Ashley is also a member of the firm’s Trial Practice Group and is regularly involved in complex employment litigation defending clients against discrimination and wrongful discharge claims. Ashley also has a broader general litigation practice that has allowed her to defend clients in complex toxic tort actions, class actions, and asbestos personal injury. She received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. + THe Honorable Perry H. Gravely
Judge Gravely was born in Pickens, South Carolina in 1960. He is married to Kathryn Coleman Gravely who previously served as the Director of Community Relations for Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens and they have 4 children. Judge Gravely, the son of David and Louise Gravely, grew up in Pickens and attended Wofford College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree as a History Major. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law where he graduated in 1986 and was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe. After law school, Judge Gravely worked as an associate for Leatherwood, Walker, Todd and Mann, in Greenville, South Carolina before moving back to Pickens in 1992 where he worked for Acker, Acker, Welmaker and Johnson and later became a partner at the firm. In 1995, Judge Gravely went into solo practice and started The Gravely Law Firm, P.A. where he worked until he was elected as Resident Judge for the Thirteenth Circuit (Seat 1) on February 4, 2015 and took the bench on April 13, 2015. Judge Gravely also served as Municipal Judge for the City of Pickens from 2003 to 2015. He served 2 terms on the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates, was named as a finalist for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year (1989) and received the Bronze Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Association in 1995. He has been very active in many civic and charitable groups in Pickens and Greenville through the years, including serving as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 51 in Pickens since 2004.
+ THe Honorable G. "Doc" Morgan
Judge Morgan was born in Greenville, South Carolina and attended the public schools in Greenville. After high school, he went to The Citadel and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Following graduation from The Citadel, he attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. After graduation from law school, he worked for McCutchen, Blanton, Rhodes and Johnson for 16 years and then went to work for McAngus, Goudelock and Courie, where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), Greenville County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association, and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. He was admitted to practice in all South Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Morgan was elected to the Circuit Court, Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 3 in February 2021.
+ THe Honorable Letitia H. Verdin
Judge Verdin graduated from Furman University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina in 1997. While in law school, she was a member of the National Moot Court team and was named the outstanding student volunteer at the University of South Carolina. After graduation from law school, she became an Assistant Solicitor with the Office of the 13th Circuit Solicitor, and later, the Office of the 8th Circuit Solicitor. It was during this time that she headed the Family Court unit for juvenile prosecution in both circuits. In 2000, she accepted a position as an Associate Attorney with the firm of Clarkson, Walsh, Rheney, & Turner, P.A. in Greenville, SC, practicing in the areas of governmental and general civil liability defense, criminal defense, and family law. In 2005, she returned to the Office of the 13th Circuit Solicitor where she prosecuted cases in the areas of child abuse and neglect and domestic violence. Judge Verdin was elected to the Family Court as a resident judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in 2008. In 2011, the South Carolina Legislature elected her to the Circuit Court, Seat 2, Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
